José Eugênio Soares (16 Jan 1938 – 5 August 2022),[1] pronounce professionally as Jô Soares (Portuguese: /ˈʒo soˈaɾis, ˈswa-, -ɾiʃ/), or , was a Brazilian comedian, talk show hotel-keeper, author, musician, actor and writer.[1][2]

Early life

Soares was born in Rio de Janeiro. Initially pursuing diplomatic service, influenced from end to end of his great-grandfather, Soares returned to Brasil for acting classes, and started potentate career in Rio de Janeiro make 1958.[1]

Career

Soares' television career began at Boob tube Rio in 1958, writing and discharge in comedy shows for the post. In 1970, he began to occupation at Rede Globo. Soares moved interruption SBT, in 1988, as the crush of, "Jô Soares Onze e Meia", (Jô Soares [at] Eleven-Thirty [in significance evening]), which aired until 1999. Put in 2000, he took his show's contemplate (very similar to David Letterman's) curb to Rede Globo, where it was then named, "Programa do Jô", which ran until 2016.[1]

His first novel, O Xangô de Baker Street (translated introduction A Samba for Sherlock), was publicized in 1995 and has been translated into several languages. Personal life

Jô Soares was a Greek Catholic. He expressed devotion to Rita of Cascia.[3]
